Theresa Villiers and London Conservative MPs meet the Chancellor of the Exchequer

London Conservative MPs gathered to lobby the Chancellor of the Exchequer on issues their constituents care about at a meeting in Parliament today.

Theresa Villiers emphasised the importance of taking forward a long term economic plan to bring down inflation, improve living standards and reduce taxes, to help people with their household bills.

Speaking afterwards, she said “This was an important opportunity to ensure the concerns of my constituents were heard at the highest levels of Government.”

“One of the issues I raised was the high cost of childcare. I also made the case for measures to support small businesses at this difficult time and encourage them to invest to boost productivity as a vital way to grow the economy, raise living standards, and make everyone better off.”

At a similar meeting prior to last year’s Autumn Statement, Theresa called for more funding for schools and this was one of the key announcements later made by the Chancellor.

The Barnet MP has raised cost of living concerns, inflation and getting energy costs down in several questions in Parliament since the start of the year.
