Chipping Barnet MP Theresa Villiers has been given a tour of the new Chase Farm Hospital ahead of its official opening.
Theresa campaigned for the new £200 million facility and was shown around by its chief executive, Natalie Forrest and its Medical Director, Dr Alan McGlennan.
The hospital will undertake 10,000 operations a year and boasts innovative barn theatres – an open plan arrangement where four operations can take place in one room.
Natalie told Theresa that the hospital (which is located on The Ridgeway in Enfield) uses the latest technology to improve efficiency and care for patients. It will serve a population of around 1.6 million, focusing mainly on elective surgery and working in partnership with Barnet Hospital.
“I’d like my constituents to know that Chase Farm has changed! It’s no longer spread around many buildings some of which were becoming increasingly run-down,” Theresa said.
“This brand new hospital building is a substantial investment in healthcare for people in Barnet and Enfield and it is good to see patients are already using its state-of-the-art facilities.
“I campaigned to secure the future of Chase Farm Hospital and these new modern facilities will significantly improve patient care.
“During my visit, I also learned how new technology will allow the NHS to operate more efficiently at Chase Farm so it makes the best use of the public funding it receives to ensure that as much as possible goes into front line care.”
