Theresa Villiers MP has sent her Tamil constituents her best wishes for Puthandu today. In her Tamil New Year message, Theresa said:
"Puthandu Vazthukal to all my Tamil constituents who are celebrating Tamil New Year this weekend.
I know that many Tamil families will be marking this auspicious day with a visit to the temple followed by a feast of traditional home cooked dishes.
Tamils around will be celebrating Puthandu today, including in Sri Lanka and India. Puthandu coincides with New Year for many different communities in India so there will be widespread celebrations there.
I hope that all my Tamil constituents enjoy the traditional festivities and wish them a very Happy New Year."
