Theresa Villiers has completed her first full weekend of campaigning in the general election. This will be the sixth time she has stood as a candidate in the Chipping Barnet constituency, having been elected in 2005 and re-elected in 2010, 2015, 2017 and 2019. If she wins on 4th July, she will be one of the longest serving Conservative female MPs in Parliament.

Speaking from the campaign trail in Underhill last night, Theresa said “There’s lots of speculation on what the national result will be; but it’s important that people remember that their votes are also about what happens here locally.”

“In the 19 years I have represented Chipping Barnet I believe I have shown that I am totally committed to championing our community and getting results on the issues people here care about.”

“I’m asking people to give me their vote so I can continue to stand up for them and fight for their interests, for example when the Mayor of London tries to impose unpopular and unwanted policies on Barnet.”

“If I am re-elected, I will continue my plan for expanding local NHS services, delivering more apprenticeships, backing local schools, boosting local businesses and high streets, saving Barnet police station, improving access to GP appointments, opposing disproportionate anti-car measures, and campaigning against tower blocks.”

“A big issue coming up on the doorstep already is concern about Labour’s plans to build over the green belt. I will always fight to protect our precious green spaces and keep Barnet as green and leafy as it is today.”
