Barnet MP, Theresa Villiers, has urged TfL to tackle reliability problems on the Northern Line.

She contacted them after receiving complaints from constituents about delays and crowding on the High Barnet branch of the Northern Line. TfL have confirmed that no new timetable has been introduced and the number of trains going to High Barnet has not been reduced. But they did acknowledge that “operational incidents on the Northern line that have impacted services in recent weeks”.

Commenting on their response, Theresa said, “As a commuter, I know how vital the Northern Line is for my constituents. I’ve been dismayed about poor service and overcrowding that's been occurring. The reliability of the line has deteriorated - so much so that constituents have been asking me if TfL had changed the timetable to reduce the number of trains going to High Barnet.”

“I immediately contacted TfL to seek an explanation and urge them to ensure that service quality and reliability on the High Barnet branch get better.”

“I welcome the reassurance that there has been no stealthy timetable change, but it is clear that something has been going wrong in recent weeks. I will be keeping up the pressure for improvement, so the line returns to its previous level of efficiency, as one of the most reliable lines on the London Underground network.”
