The temporary ban was introduced to help water companies conserve their supplies and included restrictions on uses such as washing cars, filling ponds and swimming pools and watering gardens and allotments. However, heavy rain in April, May and June means that above ground water sources have now been replenished and the ban has been lifted.

Theresa said, “It is very welcome news that water levels in this area have recovered significantly enough to mean the hosepipe ban can be lifted. Despite the recent heavy rainfall, I know it will come as a relief to gardeners and will generally make life easier for many people.”

“However, I would urge everyone to continue to use water wisely. With groundwater levels still low and the possibility of a third successive dry winter, we still need to be careful.”
