Just in time, before the second wave lockdown came into operation, Theresa Villiers was able to formally open a new nursery school in Leicester Road in High Barnet.

The Bright Little Stars Nursery is situated in a quiet residential road, opposite the beautiful green space of Highland Gardens. A former church building has been completely renovated to provide a purpose-built nursery.

The learning rooms have interactive LCD computer screens and technology which includes teaching/learning tablets enabling children to enhance their ICT knowledge and practical skills. The nursery’s learning programme suits children aged between 6 months to 5 years old and incorporates the EYFS, Phonics and Literacy, Mathematics, Science and Botany, Culture and Geography, ICT, and Expressive Arts.

The founder of the Bright Little Stars Group, Amol Devani, was previously one Theresa’s constituents and invited her to cut the ribbon for this latest addition to his chain of nurseries.

Speaking after the event, Theresa said: “It was pleasure to open this brand new nursery. I fully recognise the huge importance of the whole Early Years sector in giving children the best start in life.”

“As a vice chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Nursery Schools, Nursery and Reception Classes, I have been keeping up the pressure on the Government to ensure that they invest in childcare and Early Years. As part of that work, I am determined to save our maintained nursery schools in Barnet, such as BEYA.”

“I’m sure that this Bright Little Stars nursery will make a positive contribution to the choices available to young parents in my constituency and I wish Amol and his team every success with this new venture.”
