Chipping Barnet MP Theresa Villiers has called a visit to the StoneX Saracens stadium Vaccination Centre 'inspirational' as the Covid jab programme starts to protect younger adults.
Theresa went to the centre yesterday with Hendon MP Matthew Offord to tour the site that can inoculate up to 1500 people a day. She arrived to find enthusiastic crowds of adults in their 20s and 30s queueing up to get the vaccine.
The two MPs were guided on the visit by Julie Hamilton, the chief nurse at the Royal Free London, and Lucy Wray, the chief executive, of Saracens. They also met with staff and volunteers on the frontline and those receiving the vaccine at the centre in Allianz Park.
“The people queuing up for vaccinations were in their 20s and 30s - showing that the programme is progressing well down the age groups,” said Theresa.
“I would like to thank everyone who has worked to get doses into arms, not just at the stadium but across London and the UK - they are all just brilliant and it was an inspirational visit.
“The data about the spread of the Delta variant is worrying but, equally, the statistics about vaccines show they are effective against it, particularly when two doses are given.
“Please do go and get a vaccination when you are called. It will help us all return to a normal life.”
