MP Theresa Villiers has contacted Barnet Council to ask them to grit pavements and side roads as a matter of urgency, following concerns raised by local people.
As the cold snap continues, Chipping Barnet woke this morning to very icy and slippery conditions.
Constituents have contacted Theresa to tell her of the problems they are experiencing.
One said: “Please, please, please with your power entice the gritters to come through the back roads.
“As beautiful as Barnet looks in the snow, it is causing absolute chaos. We literally cannot move our cars. We are stuck. Appointments are being missed. Day 2 of being unable to move the car to take kids to school. Day 2 of being unable to drive to the Spires and spend valuable money at a crucial time supporting local businesses.”
Theresa said: “The pavements and side roads in my constituency are very icy and slippery this morning. I am especially worried about older people who need to get out and about, as well as those who need to go to work or take children to school.
“I contacted the council yesterday asking them to grit side roads as a matter of urgency. I've been back in touch this morning as people continue to struggle with conditions underfoot.
“The main roads seem broadly to be OK but side roads and footways should not be missed out. If they are, this could trap people in their homes.”
